Western High School: Resources > Windows NT/2000/XP: Logging in
Logging into a Windows NT/2000/XP workstation
- On a Windows NT/2000/XP computer, there should be a floating box with the message to "type Control-Alt-Delete." Do this: hold down the Control and Alt keys, and type the Delete key.
- You will be prompted for a user name and password. Enter your username and password (from the card you received with your password at the beginning of the year.) If a third box for the Domain appears, ensure that it is set to "WHS". Click the button to continue.
Server Access
- Once you've logged in, you will automatically be connected to your home directory and to the Resources sharepoint. They will be mapped as the "H" and "I" drives, and will be visible when you choose File>Open or File>Save from within programs.
- DO NOT FORGET TO LOG OUT when you are done. Instructions are below. If you fail to log out, your server documents will be available to the next person who sits down at this computer, and that person will be unable to access her own files.
Log Out of the Windows NT/2000/XP workstation
- Click "Start," then "Shut Down" as shown here:

An alternate method is to type the Control-Alt-Delete combination that you used when logging in.
- You will see the window below. Choose "Close all programs and log on as a different user."
