Changing Laptop Passwords

Staff laptop computers are set to log onto the BCPSS domain. This means that BCPSS' central servers will check your username and password, so you must use the username BCPSS provided you.

About every 90 days, BCPSS will require you to change your BCPSS password. You will be notified of this impending requirement many days in advance each time you log in.

Changing your BCPSS password, however, does not automatically change your WHS password; you must do that manually. Your WHS password (and username) were originally issued to you by Mr. Tomlinson, and are the ones you need to log into all school computers except teacher laptops and office computers.

Whenever you change your BCPSS password, you should change your WHS password to match it. This will make your computing experience at school much simpler!

Here is the smoothest procedure to accomplish your password changes:

Change your WHS password first

The first time you are warned that you will soon need to change your BCPSS password, DON'T DO IT!
Instead, continue logging in as usual.
Once you are logged into your laptop, you can change your WHS password:
- Open the Resources sharepoint (you should have a shortcut to it on your desktop).
- Open the "Staff Folder."
- Double-click the file "changepassword.html":
- Enter your WHS username in the "Login ID" box and your current password in the "Old Password" box. In the "New Password" and "Verify" boxes, enter the same thing: the new password to which you want to switch.
- After you click the "Change Password" button, you will see a screen confirming that you successfully changed your password.

Then change your BCPSS password

Hold down the "Ctrl" and "Alt" keys and type the "delete" key.
You will see an array of buttons, one of which is "Change password." Click it and use the resulting window to change your BCPSS password so that it matches the WHS password you just chose in the preceding steps.
