The Grade Sheet

The Grade Sheet:
- calculates semester and year averages for you automatically
- instantly recalculates the averages when you change a quarter or exam grade, allowing you to see the effect of a change on the student's final grades.
- prints out a nice, clean list that makes bubbling easier and provides a convenient record for proofreading BCPSS grade correction sheets
One good use for the Grade Sheet is for determining possible year-end failures when that information is requested early by the administrators. Since your 1st semester and 3rd quarter grades are already enterered on the Grade Sheet, you can just ...
- enter the students' current 4th quarter average (easy to figure if you use Gradebook Plus or another computerized grade book)
- leave the exam column blank (after all, they may not show up!)
... and the Grade Sheet automatically projects the students' final average.
Here's where you can get the Grade Sheet:
Grade Sheet (Excel format)
Grade Sheet (Appleworks format)
You won't even need to type the students'names on the Grade Sheet if you have them typed somewhere already. They can be "cut and pasted" right onto the Grade Sheet. If you use Gradebook Plus, you can get them from there.
Here's the procedure for exporting the students'names from Gradebook Plus and importing them into the Grade Sheet:
- Open one of your classes and select Reports:Gradebook of Entire Class from the menu bar:

- A window will come up offering you various options. Choose the ones shown in this picture, unless you don't use weighted categories, in which case you can uncheck that box:

- Click on the "Save to Disk" button as shown above. You will now see the dialogue box below. Type a name for the file you are about to export, and choose where you will save it using the pop-up menu at the top ("Desktop" in this picture).

- Now press the "Save" button.
- Open Appleworks and choose File:Open, locate the file you just created, and open it. You should see something like the picture below, although the names won't be highlighted as they are here:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Use the mouse to select only the names, as above (click just to the left of the first name, and, holding the mouse button down, drag to the end of the last name; then let go of the button).
- Now select Edit:Copy from the menu bar.
- You may now close this file.
- Open the Grade Sheet. Click once in the first name cell and select Edit:Paste from the menu bar as shown below:

- Your names will now be pasted into the Grade Sheet.
