Lab Usage Guidelines for Teachers

(from the Faculty Handbook)

These guidelines are designed to: ensure that all teachers are able to utilize the computer labs in rooms 118 and 216; promote orderly, productive use of lab equipment; maintain the safety of students; and prevent the abuse of expensive lab equipment.

  1. All requests for group use of the computer labs must be submitted to Mr. Tomlinson in writing. Forms are available in rooms 118 and 216, and can be found in the server location Resources > Staff Folder. The following information is required:
    1. teacher name
    2. number of students
    3. software to be used
    4. type of project (2-3 words)
  2. Requests must be submitted at least one day in advance. Mr. Tomlinson will attempt to schedule the requested dates and times. Lab sessions are not considered as scheduled until Mr. Tomlinson confirms that a lab has been reserved.
  3. Please avoid requesting a lab for many consecutive days or for the same days in consecutive weeks; the labs need to be available for other teachers.
  4. Teachers must actively supervise their classes in the computer lab. Substitute teachers may not bring classes to computer labs.
  5. Staff members may neither write passes for students to go to a lab nor send them there. This applies to all times. Students may obtain lunch passes from Mr. Tomlinson in room 118 between 8:00 a.m. and 8:15 a.m., and room 118 is open for students most days between 3:05 and 4:00 p.m.
