- Come to the first annual Western High School Dance Recital on Sunday, June 14, 2009!
- Takyera Robinson '12 and McKinsey DeLair '12 were selected by Northrop Grumman to participate in its WORTHY program, in which they will work with Northrop Grumman engineering and business mentors.
- Artwork of Erica Heckman '09 was featured in Congressman John Sarbanes' 2009 Congressional Arts Competition at the Baltimore Museum of Art in April.
- Western students participate and earn medals in the 2009 Maryland Olympiada of Spoken Russian at Goucher College.
- Join the Western family at our 1st Annual Rummage Sale!
- On March 9, 2009, Western and the other Blue Ribbon School Award winners were honored with a banquet and ceremonies in the State House.
- Imani Harvill '10 took second place in the 2009 Maryland Poetry Out Loud Finals on February 21st at Center Stage.
- Sonia Sagastume '10 (Silver Medal), Melissa Harrington '09 (Bronze Medal), Kara Hughes '09, and Joy Neal '09 (Honorable Mention) were recognized in the National Russian Essay Contest.
- Takia Wicks '09 won 2nd Place in the Tuskegee Debate competition on February 14, earning a trophy and $500 award.
- As part of a young women’s leadership program, six Western students demonstrated their speaking skills at a joint informational session with St. Paul’s School for Girls and Mercy High School on February 3rd.
- Neikita Jackson '09, Kayanna Johnson '10, and Amina Abou-Bakr '10 were chosen to serve in the Mayor's Executive Internship Program, working in the Mayor's Office one half day per week.
- Charnice Blackledge '09 and Danesha Thomas '10 were selected for the Baltimore City Council Page Program to work in the offic of the City Council President one afternoon per week through the end of the school year.
- Students performed in a Winter Holiday Celebration program on December 19, 2008.
- Western named Maryland Blue Ribbon School of Excellence!

- New York Times best-selling author Carole Boston Weatherford speaks to Western students.
- Western's Robo-Doves win awards at the Dunbar High School Vex competition and an invitation to the Vex World Championship in Dallas.

- The Robo-Doves, Western High School's Robotics team, reached the Finalist round at the 2008 Ramp Riot in Ambler, PA.
- We invite interested 7th and 8th graders and their parents/guardians to Open House on Sunday, October 12, 2008, 2:00–4:00 p.m. and Thursday, November 6, 2008, 5:30–7:30 p.m. to explore Western and meet students and staff.

- Western celebrated Senior Inauguration for the Class of 2009 on September 26, 2008.
- Melissa Harrington '09 was named an ACTR Russian Scholar Laureate for 2008 by the American Council of Teachers of Russian. Melissa is a student of Mr. James Sweigert.
- The Western Robotics Team made it to the semifinals in the Battle of Baltimore FIRST Robotics Invitational Competition on August 9th.

- Western welcomes the Class of 2012 and new staff members Rhonda Clyburn (Assistant Principal), Tina Jablonowski (Social Studies), Jade Jove (Mathematics), Trevor Lewis (Mathematics), Jeffrey Martin (Social Studies), Elizabeth O'Hara (English), Stacey Purdum (Technology), Demetria Sayles (Technology), Adrian Smith (World & Classical Languages), Gino Tagaytay (Science), Anitra Washington (Science), and Pamela Wilson (Secretary).
- The 2008-2009 school year begins for all students on Monday, August 25, 2008.
