- As part of the Baltimore Believe campaign, Jasmine Jeffreys, '06, was awarded a special visit from the Ravens' Ed Hartwell, who spoke to several classes of Western students on May 29.
- Engineers from Northrop Grumman visited Ms. Ewing's Biology class on April 30 to teach Western 9th graders about the engineering profession.
- Listen to "Dear Western" as sung at the Class of 1964's commencement.
- Western's MESA Club earned 7 trophies at the Maryland Statewide Competition on April 25.

- Megan Fishman, '05, was accepted to the School Year Abroad China program founded by Phillips Academy in Andover.
- On Tuesday, March 11, sixteen new members were inducted into the National Honor Society at a ceremony held in the Library and attended by students, parents, and staff.
- Western received the only Exemplary rating for its Student Support Team in the Mid-Year Review of BCPSS high schools. The rating means that Western's team "rivals the best multi-disciplinary teams in the country."
- Western's Varsity and J.V. Basketball won the city championships by scores of 58-54 and 68-60 respectively. Both games were won over last years champs, the Dunbar Lady Poets.
- Western's Track and Field team won the city championship and the north regional championship and placed 3rd in the state finals in a field of 85 teams.
- Five Western students were named finalists in the 16th Annual "Champions of Courage" Black History Month Competition.
- Western celebrated Junior Day on November 22, 2002. Nikeita Moore, '04, created a page documenting the events.
- Junior Christine Harkness was named a finalist in the ConJosé Student Science Fiction & Fantasy Contest
- Western's Russian classes received visitors from Kyrghyzstan and Russia on January 8.
