Farai Chideya at Western

Chideya and classOn October 26, 2004, author, political analyst and Western alumna Farai Chideya came to Western. Fresh from a book talk at Enoch Pratt Public Library, Ms. Chideya spoke with students in Ms. Hodges's U.S. History classes about the 2004 election.

Ms. Chideya's latest book, Trust: Reaching the 100 Million Missing Voters, argues that voter apathy in America stems from the dominance of the two-party system and the general lack of faith that elected officials have the best interest of constituents at heart. She discussed these ideas and more general election issues with the 11th grade students.
