Battelle Awards Technology Grant
The Battelle Memorial Institute (Battelle) awarded a $5,000 grant to Western in July, 2007. Battelle, a global science and technology corporation that develops and commercializes technology and manages laboratories for customers, is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. It maintains a local office near Western on Falls Road, and made its grant in support of Western's technology program.
The Battelle grant will be used to provide digital display equipment such as video projectors and document cameras to Western classrooms.
Terry R. Johnson, Battelle Vice President and Director, Centers for Public Health Research and Evaluation (CPHRE), and Jeanine Christian, CPHRE Baltimore Site Director, presented the donation to Principal Eleanor Matthews and Technology Coordinator Andrew Tomlinson at the Battelle office.
CPHRE-Baltimore Office Administrator V. Michele Smith facilitated and provided persistent support for Mr. Tomlinson's grant request in a process that began in in the spring of 2006.
