Western High School's Debate team competes in the Baltimore Urban Debate League. With one of the largest and strongest teams in the league, Western debaters achieve competitive success through logic, passion and credibility. The team researches, writes and debates multiple arguments for affirmative and negative cases. Debate is an excellent opportunity for growth in writing, public speaking and critical thinking. |

To actively support the dramatic arts. Within the organization students train in the arts of mime, dramatic reading and acting. They present their own productions throughout the school year. |

The GSA is dedicated to reducing anti-gay bigotry and raising awareness of the issues gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people face both within Western and in the larger community. |

| Modern Dance Troupe |
To combine technical elements of modern, ballet and jazz dance. Students work to develop an understanding of compositional form. Emphasis is placed on interrelating dance technique, music, drama, and art for choreographic interpretation. Auditions are required. |
